1st Cleaning
ALWAYS wash your hands before touching the tattoo.
- You may leave the Recovery Derm Shield on for 2-3 days. Manufacturer recommends leaving it on for no more than 1 week. Always take it off under warm running water.
- If there is any redness occurring on or around the skin that's being covered with Recovery Derm Shield then immediately take it off. It's usually due to someone having really sensitive skin and that's a sign of skin irritation.
- Clean the tattoo by using warm water and a small amount of fragrance free antibacterial soap.
- DO NOT cover the tattoo with anything else for the rest of the healing process.
- Apply a VERY THIN LAYER of unscented hypoallergenic lotion 3-5 times per day for the next 3-4 weeks.
Showering
- DO NOT soak the tattoo nor leave under running water.
- DO NOT use any shower scrubs, luffas, bath sponges, etc. They harbor bacteria that may infect your new tattoo.
- Lightly wash and rinse the tattoo with a small amount of fragrance free antibacterial soap.
- After showering, use a fresh towel to gently pat the tattoo dry and then apply a thin layer of lotion.
WARNING!!! FOR THE FIRST MONTH...
- NO swimming in chlorinated pools, spas, lakes, rivers or the ocean.
- NO sun tanning or tanning beds.
- AVOID going to the gym for the first 7 days. Cardiovascular activities outside the gym is permissible as long as you CLEAN YOUR TATTOO RIGHT AWAY.
- AVOID direct sunlight.
- DO NOT let other people or animals touch your tattoo.
- DO NOT scratch or pick off scabs.
- DO NOT use Vaseline, Neosporin, A&D Ointment nor anything else that may discolor your tattoos.
- If red bumps or hives start appearing on the tattooed area please see your primary care physician OR go to urgent care.
